Stroke is now treatable. But you have to BE FAST! Spot a stroke to stop a stroke. The MT2020+ BEFAST Challenge is uses the universal language of dance to teach back the signs of stroke using the mnemonic BEFAST: (sudden problem with) Balance, Eyesight, Face Droop, Arm/Leg, Speech, means Time to Call Emergency. Through this process, we will also spread stroke awareness and increase survivorship and decrease disability from stroke.
How do I Participate? 1. Initiate/accept the challenge. 2. Make a video. Dance to show the signs stroke using the BEFAST mnemonic. Sample videos are below. 3. Add captions and state the BEFAST signs as you dance!
4. Post to social media using #BEFASTchallenge.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I have to be challenged before I can participate?
No! You can start the challenge within your network by taking the challenge yourself and nominating your friends and family.
2. What if I can't dance?
That's ok! The important thing is that we are spreading awareness through teaching back the signs of stroke, and telling people to call emergency services when they spot the signs! Do your video regardless of dancing ability.
